Belden cables Sky Italia
Share  Share
Thursday, 26 November 2009
Sky Italia's new HD-ready flagship headquarters in Milano Santa Giulia has been fitted out with over 1.2 million metres of Belden high performance cables.

The broadcaster's new HQ was designed to combine studio, TX and admin facilities with maximum future-proofing, and all without any interruptions to services. Sony managed the installation, and after assessing various options, chose Belden on the basis of quality and reliability, as well as the results of cable testing - particularly the HD coaxial cables.

Belden's HD-designed coaxial cables support high frequencies and require simple connectivity. Due to Sky Italia's HD needs and the large scope of the project, Sony decided to deploy, among other Belden cabling products, a range of coaxial cables.

They include 1855ENH VideoFlex Snake cable with recommended HD distance of 100m, featuring solid copper centre conductor for low attenuation and easier termination. There are also 1694ANH Brilliance Banana Peel Precision Video Snake cables with recommended HD distance of 140m, for optimum digital video performance using multiple coaxes in a single pull; and 7731ANH coaxial cables with recommended HD distance of 230m for extended transmission distances. As the first cable manufacturer to increase its sweep testing from 3GHz to 4.5GHz for all coaxes, Belden also performed sweep testing to 4.5GHz on each reel of HD cable.
