African pay TV provider MultiChoice has chosen Clearleap, provider of multiscreen video logistics, to accelerate its multiscreen strategy and provide efficient management and delivery of its television content over both IP networks and traditional pay TV networks. MultiChoice operates the DStv and GOtv services, two major platforms in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Clearleap’s multiscreen video and digital asset management systems will enable MultiChoice to meet the growing consumer demands for rapid delivery of TV content across every screen and device. By using the Clearleap platform, MultiChoice will be able to manage its entire library of premium live and on-demand video content, then distribute and monetise it across VoD, web portals, apps and more. MultiChoice will also be able to take advantage of Clearleap’s flexible model, which will integrate with its existing infrastructure and will easily scale to allow for new multiscreen services in the future.
“As South Africa’s leading pay TV provider, we’re always looking for ways to improve our customers’ experience and ensure that they can get the content they love, wherever and whenever. Clearleap makes this a reality,” said Gerdus Van Eeden, CEO, Broadcast Technology, MultiChoice. “The shift to digital and OTT distribution is only going to accelerate, and by leveraging Clearleap’s technology we’re several steps ahead of the game. Knowing that our content will be quickly delivered to the right platforms in the right formats means we can focus on our core business and continue to excite our subscribers with a world of entertainment.”
“With the explosion of content and video-enabled devices, MultiChoice needed a platform that could meet consumer demand for ‘any screen’ viewing,” said Braxton Jarratt, CEO, Clearleap. “Our platform is a future-proof investment that supports legacy STBs as well as new devices, enabling operators and content owners to easily scale their operations, create new business models and increase their subscriber base. We recognise the multiscreen TV landscape is ever-evolving and complex to navigate. We are pleased to equip MultiChoice with the tools to stay competitive and satisfy the appetite of today’s viewers.”
