Canon’s new full frame Cinema EOS camera, thew C700 FF, has been used on the trailer for a possible new Netflix series.
The camera has a newly developed, next generation Canon full frame 38.1 mm x 20.1mm CMOS sensor, and is capable of recording up to 5.9K.
The C700 FF also supports multi-format recording, shooting with EF, PL and anamorphic lenses.
It is one of four Cinema EOS cameras selected as Netflix Post Technology Alliance Products, recognised as meeting Netflix’s technical and delivery specifications.
The camera has already been used by UK-based director of photography Jonathan Jones on the trailer for Netflix’s proposed new drama series, Refugium. “For this trailer we required a camera that would meet the high production standards of a Netflix style drama series and showcase our creative ability – but we only had a short amount of time to shoot it,” he said.
“We put the C700 FF through its paces over three intensive days of filming and were impressed with its intuitive usability which meant we were shooting in a matter of hours.”
