Sennheiser has announced the launch of its new 2.4 GHz all-in-one microphone system.
Aiming to provide creators with an “audio multitool” solution, the company has released Profile Wireless. The two-channel, 2.4 GHz wireless system is able to connect to mobile phones, cameras and computers and can also be used as a clip-on, handheld or table-top mic.
The system is based around a charging bar which stores and charges the key components while doubling as a hand-held or desktop mic. With an OLED touch display, the charging bar holds a two-channel mini-receiver and has two pre-paired clip-on mics and adaptors to connect the receiver to mobile phones or a camera cold shoe mount. A gyro-sensor ensures the receiver display automatically rotates to remain legible.
To enable use in difficult conditions, each Profile Wireless clip-on mic has 16 GB memory for internal recording. Backup Recording Mode can be selected, automatically turning on internal recording if the wireless signal becomes too weal and a Safety Channel Mode outputs and records backup audio at lower volume to help protect against clipping, said the company.
Callie Blake, Sennheiser category marketing manager, creators, said,“It was important to us that Profile Wireless can master a diverse set of recording requirements, while being as compact and portable as possible. The range of use cases for Profile Wireless is impressive. While the clip-on mics ensure signature Sennheiser audio quality and are quite unobtrusive, there may still be instances where a creator or videographer would like to work with separate lavalier mics, so there’s a lockable 3.5 mm TRS jack for connecting external mics.”
Profile Wireless is the first compact 2.4 GHz wireless system with a handheld option integrated for more than 15 hours of runtime, said the company.
