BT and A+E Networks UK have signed a new deal that will see two channels go HD.

A+E’s Lifetime and H2 channels will launch in HD later this year.

Under the new partnership, Lifetime will move to BT’s basic pay package – entertainment starter – whilst the broadcaster has also secured a long-term deal for History, H2, Lifetime and Crime + Investigation.

Adrian Pilkington, SVP of distribution and strategy at A+E, said, “A+E Networks UK has a long-standing and close partnership with BT so I am delighted that we have not only agreed a new long-term carriage deal, but that we have also expanded our offering on this fast-growing UK platform.”

A+E Networks UK broadcasts into 45 million homes across the UK, Scandinavia, Benelux, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“We’ve got a great and growing line up of channels on BT TV and we’re thrilled to extend our partnership with A+E,” said Tony Singh, business affairs director for BT TV and BT Sport.

“BT’s customers love great factual programming and we’re delighted that they’ll now be able to enjoy all their favourite History, H2, C+I and Lifetime shows in HD.”
