Discovery Inc. has signed a deal with Digital Element to use its video rights technology.
The broadcaster has adopted NetAcuity, Digital Element’s hyperlocal IP geolocation technology, which enables Discovery to identify the precise location of their viewers and permit or restrict access to content depending on geographic rights.
Eugene Huang, SVP for digital product and technology at Discovery, said: “By implementing Digital Element’s NetAcuity technology, Discovery ensures compliance with third-party rights holders, while guaranteeing end users see the high-quality content they expect from Discovery.”
Charlie Johnson, Digital Element’s vice president, UK and Ireland, added: “The installation of NetAcuity will allow Discovery to surmount the challenges posed by cross border telco IP address allocation, so it can fulfil its video rights obligations across all regions.”
