The Murdoch family is believed to be planning a push into video in the UK with the hiring of former CBS News chief David Rhodes.
According to the Financial Times, Rhodes has joined News UK where he is reporting to chief executive Rebekah Brooks.
The report says the company’s plans “remain fluid” but suggests the Murdochs could be ready to move back into broadcast news after selling Sky News to Comcast 18 months ago.
The paper quotes one senior broadcaster as saying a Fox News-style outlet in Britain is “a long-held dream” for the family.
Rhodes began his career at Murdoch’s Fox News before moving to CBS.
News UK declined to comment.
