Rai, RTÉ, Riedel Networks join EBU’s Security4Media association

The association aims to support the media technology industry by identifying vulnerabilities in media systems and solutions

Italian public broadcaster Rai and Ireland’s RTÉ have joined the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) association dedicated to furthering cybersecurity in media technology.

They join fellow broadcasters ORF (Austria), ARD (Germany), Swedish Radio, SWISS TXT, RTS (Serbia) and NRK (Norway), who signed up to Security4Media when it was first launched in September.

Riedel Networks has also joined the group which aims to support the media technology industry by identifying vulnerabilities in media systems and solutions, streamlining the vulnerability management process with vendors, and speeding up remediation.

“The foundation of such an association is a step in the right direction for the broadcast sector, because it sends out a signal that IT security also plays an enormously important role in the media sector and must be given greater focus,” said Michael Martens, CEO of Riedel Networks.

Security4Medi is also working on being able to perform security audits and provide labels to organisations that implement cybersecurity best practices, said the EBU.
