Spanish court sets new date for Mediaset hearing

Vivendi warned the merger would "harm the interests of minority shareholders"

A Spanish court has set a new date of 18th February for the hearing over Mediaset’s planned merger.

The court maintained the suspension of the merger, which stakeholder Vivendi warned would “harm the interests of minority shareholders.”

Mediaset is controlled by the family of former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, and ordered a merger of its Italian and Spanish units to form a Dutch holding company called MediaforEurope (MFE).

The Spanish court ordered the suspension of this corporate overhaul in October, while it analyses the case brought by Vivendi.
