Dutch media company has acquired YouTube channel StukTV.
According to Talpa, it is the first time a YouTube channel has been acquired by a Dutch media company.
StukTV launched six years ago and now has over 1.9 million subscribers, and more than 700 million views. Each week the channel’s three hosts ask viewers to submit challenges, which they turn into a five to 15 minute video.
The channel was part of RTL’s social media unit, but was not owned by RTL. Talpa is targeting 17 to 34 year olds and says it will be able to attract tens of millions of viewers per month, with a network of ‘influencers’.
The three founders of StukTV will remain involved. Giel de Winter will become creative director of the Talpa Social Unit.
