German commercial broadcaster RTL has extended its Formula One rights deal for another three years.
The new contract will see RTL continue to hold free-to-air rights until 2021 – a deal which now goes back as far as 1984.
The rights include the entire competition, from main races to qualifiers to training.
Meanwhile, the broadcaster is expanding its football offering after securing free-to-air rights for the UEFA Europa League. The move, which is also a three-year deal expiring in 2021 – will see RTL deliver 15 live games per season, along with providing highlights for all matches in the competition. The live games will be shared between RTL and sister channel Nitro.
RTL didn’t give details on the financial conditions of either contracts.
