ASG rolls out Virtual Truck

Leveraging cloud-based infrastructure, the Virtual Truck reduces the need for physical OB vehicles

Leveraging the same technology employed in its Virtual Production Control Room, Advanced Systems Group’s Virtual Truck is a new solution in cloud-based remote production

Leveraging public, private or hybrid-hosted solutions, Virtual Truck features a 44-input, 8 M/E switcher, 8 channels of replay, a flexible HTML5 or dedicated graphics station, 64-stereo, 44 bus return and AES67 compatible audio, said the company.

On-site cloud communication is provided by a fully configured multi-channel beltpack and IFB system.

The software-defined solution utilises the global accessibility of high bandwidth IP transmission enabling on-site cameras to feed directly into encoders for IP transport into its integrated cloud solutions, added ASG. Resources can be quickly scaled to meet production demands without the limitations of a physical OB truck.

ASG president, Dave Van Hoy, said, “The Virtual Truck is a great example of cloud production democratising live production and opening the field to a new generation of professionals. It’s removing the barriers imposed by location-bound, costly, legacy hardware. Our virtual, live production solutions offer greater flexibility and cost savings than traditional on-the-ground broadcast components. While we recognise that there are still live events that require physical trucks, we are providing a cost-effective and flexible alternative solution that addresses the needs of live production.”

In addition to opening up live production to wider groups, the Virtual Truck aims to lower users’ carbon footprint, reducing the need for crew travel, shipping of gear and power consumption.
