Lawo is adding new capabilities to its HOME Apps suite, including a Lawo Workspace user interface and HOME Intelligent Multiviewer that minimises bandwidth and CPU usage.
The company first announced the launch of HOME in April 2023. The Server-Based Processing Platform consists of scalable broadcast and media production apps and microservices.
According to the company, Lawo Workspaces are a novel, mobile approach to working with the hardware-agnostic HOME Apps. “They are remotely accessible user interfaces wrapped around modular microservice-based HOME Apps that provide mission-specific production functionality on the go,” added Lawo.

The Workspaces include a HTM5-native user interface, enabling them to be controlled from a desktop, laptop, tablet, phone or AR headset—providing low-latency audio, video, and control via any modern web browser.
The Lawo Workspace HOME Apps launch with three purpose-designed applications, including HOME Commentary for off-tube and on-site commentary. HOME Video Monitor provides video and audio monitoring anywhere, said Lawo. The HOME mc² crystal Controller enables users to place a tablet or laptop placed behind a compact crystal console, or its optional Virtual Extension display, to display high-resolution audio meters and a video feed for a project.
“In line with Lawo’s mission to assist users of its unified, open platform with their endeavour to drastically reduce the number of idle processing tools, the release of the first three HOME Apps with an HTML5-based user interface represents a standalone way of interacting with mission-specific processing functionality,” said Phil Myers, Lawo’s CTO.
“Without compromising on broadcast quality or security, Lawo Workspaces enable operators to use highly affordable portable and/or mobile devices for broadcast-grade contribution and monitoring purposes from virtually any location.”
The HOME Intelligent Multiviewer – based on Lawo’s server-based processing platform for on-prem and cloud production – can be used to monitor UHD, 3G, HD and SD video as well as audio sources.
According to Lawo, the multiviewer is suited for high-bandwidth/low-latency ST 2110 broadcast environments, SRT stream workflows in the cloud, NDI devices, JPEG XS, and more.
