intoPIX has announced its TicoXS JPEG XS technology has been integrated into the Media Links Xscend platform.
Designed to transport up to 128 media services across managed and unmanaged IP networks, Xscend provides ultra-low latency real-time video transport and has been deployed by major broadcasters across a number of high-profile events including this year’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The platform’s architecture is scalable to meet the requirements of evolving network protocols, user-defined workflows, compression codecs, video formats and physical interfaces, said the company.
JPEG XS technology aims to optimise bandwidth usage, ensuring image quality is maintained over IP networks. With an encode-decode latency of less than 32 video lines, intoPIX’s FPGA-implemented JPEG XS standard minimises live broadcast delays, said the company.
Both companies contribute to the development of the Video Services Forum’s (VSF) JPEG XS Technical Recommendations, widely adopted throughout the industry.
Mark Podesla, senior director at Media Links, said,“Working closely with intoPIX, we are proud to bring JPEG XS to the forefront of IP-based broadcast infrastructure. Our collaboration ensures that the Xscend platform delivers visually lossless video with ultra-low latency, essential for flawless live broadcasting, as seen during the Olympics.”
“Our shared leadership in the VSF alongside Media Links highlights the importance of JPEG XS as a trusted industry standard,” added Jean-Baptiste Lorent, director, media entertainment and pro AV solutions at intoPIX. “This collaboration is driving the future of IP broadcasting.”
