Riedel acquires MECSware and launches Easy5G private network

The collaboration aims to 'revolutionise' 5G usage for live events and remote productions, said Riedel

Riedel Communications has announced the acquisition of MECSware and the launch of a private 5G network solution.

Under the agreement, MECSware, which develops and supplies 4G/5G private network system solutions, will remain independent under the Riedel Group. The collaboration has paved the way for Easy5G, Riedel’s Private 5G solution.

Easy5G aims to streamline 5G usage in dynamic environments such as live events and remote productions. Combining WiFi simplicity with the robustness of carrier-grade systems, Easy5G can be deployed and managed by non-specialist personnel using standard switch infrastructure in under an hour, said the company. There is no requirement for 5G expertise or dark fibre.

Founder and CEO of the Riedel Group, Thomas Riedel, commented, “Private 5G networks were often impractical for dynamic or temporary applications like live events and remote productions due to their complexity and lack of flexibility. In MECSware, we found the perfect partner to help us overcome these obstacles for our customers, and I am more than happy to welcome Torsten and his team to the Riedel family. The first fruits of our shared labour are nothing short of a breakthrough, as Easy5G’s debut delivers both the reliable, high-capacity upload connections and the flexibility required for media and event productions.”

Easy5G operates on dedicated network frequencies, aiming to ensure superior performance and reliability. Pairing small-cell base stations with MECSware’s Mobile Edge Cloud Server (MECS) enables flexibility and scalability across applications such as wireless communications, live video transmission and more. The solution links to MediorNet and Artist ecosystems, providing a wireless IP layer for audio, video and data workflows.

Dr Torsten Musiol, CEO, MECSware, said, “We are thrilled to be joining forces with Riedel, which will open up exciting new applications for our technologies all across the globe.”
