French broadcaster TF1 is aiming to introduce “the world’s first” personalised news bulletins by the end of the year.
In an interview with Le Figaro, TF1 head of innovation for information Yani Khezzar said the broadcaster intends to let viewers choose the length of the bulletin they watch by selecting specific topics such as sport or culture.
The bulletins will include a “common core of current affairs” said Khezzar, so that they don’t “fall into the trap” of recommendation algorithms.
The aim is to attract an audience that doesn’t watch traditional news bulletins at set times during the day.
