Warner Bros Discovery to stream Paris 2024 Opening and Closing ceremonies in HDR

The broadcaster has revealed a number of innovations aiming to enable flexibility for viewers watching the Olympics on Max and discovery+

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has outlined some of the technological innovations being used in its coverage of Paris 2024.

Max and Discovery+, WBD’s streaming platforms, will provide 3,800 hours of coverage, which will include all 329 medal events with HDR streaming of the Opening and Closing ceremonies for its European market viewers.

Additional HDR feeds in selected markets include Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 on Max in France and Monaco. Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 International on Max in Bosnia, Croatian, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia & Serbia plus Eurosport 2 in Slovenia said the company.

Multi-feed audio will enable users to select up to 20 languages. A multi-screen streaming experience allows fans to watch via TV, mobile or tablet. Max will provide a dedicated page for all 32 Olympic sports with users able to select specific events for their watch lists. In-play discovery capability will be available on discovery+ and Max via connected TVs, allowing viewers to switch between events, while gold medal alerts will inform users of imminent significant moments.

Timeline markers will identify key moments in select sports with viewers able to navigate directly to these moments via the web or mobile app. Simulcasts of Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 will deliver curated highlights and additional content within the apps.
