Comcast launches global Cloud TV platform

The company aims to enable broadcasters and video service providers to deliver multi-platform TV, both broadcast and OTT, from the cloud via a managed 24x7 service

 Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS) has debuted its Cloud TV platform for broadcasters and video providers around the world.

CTS Cloud TV aims to enable broadcasters, content owners and distributors to provide users with a cloud-based multi-platform experience, both broadcast and OTT, via a managed 24×7 service, Flexible and scalable, the solution unifies live linear TV, SVoD, AVoD, TVoD and FAST channels into a blended service.

Cloud TV allows the implementation of digital first strategies aimed at driving efficiencies, converging and streamlining workflows between linear TV and OTT to reduce duplication. The solution provides users with a range of capabilities, including:

  • Centralised ingest, transcoding and processing of live and on-demand video.
  • Metadata management, enabling modelling, enforcement and monetisation of business policies and distribution rights.
  • FAST channels, cloud distribution and playout.
  • Bundling of new content and subscription packages, minimising churn.
  • Managed user experience (UX) with a range of options including customised web and mobile UIs, self-build application platform and templated set-top box and TV solutions.
  • Personalisation and Comcast VideoAI integration for discovery and contextual advertising.
  • Advanced analytics and insights.

Additionally, CTS Cloud TV enables alignment for carbon neutral video delivery, helping users to meet sustainability targets.

Through collaboration with technology providers across the industry, Comcast is able to provide customised solutions tailored to each deployment, said the company. The solution includes personalisation and analytics from Jump and Mux, along with advertising services from Broadpeak.
