As part of a billion-dollar ten-year extension to their partnership, Vodafone will employ Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence capabilities in its Giga TV offering in Germany.
The companies said they plan to improve Vodafone’s Android-based TV offering by employing Google Cloud’s AI capabilities to enable additional features for finding content and personalisation.
Google Ad Manager is also expected to be integrated into Giga TV in order to create a better advertising experience. Both companies also plan to implement YouTube even more deeply into Vodafone TV devices.
Speaking about the deal, Margherita Della Valle, CEO of Vodafone Group, said: “Vodafone and Google are working together to bring new AI-powered content and devices to millions of consumers. This will bring new ways to learn, communicate and watch TV – on a scale never seen before.”
