Norwegian telco Telenor has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) to implement a cloud-native end-to-end streaming platform for its viewers in the Nordic region.
The platform will be used for live TV, catch-up, start over, Network Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and Video on Demand (VoD).
Telenor will build a Secure Media Cloud Platform, consisting of continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment (CI/CD) environments, enabling fast, and scalable onboarding of applications, said AWS.
The telco intends to use Amazon S3, Amazon EC2 and AWS Direct Connect to build its streaming service with petabyte-level storage and multiple 100 Gbps connections to its networks, added the company.
“This marks a major milestone in our journey to provide future-ready TV services for our Nordic customers. For Telenor, this is one of the first full-scale cloud native service platforms that we will implement,” said Jon Omund Revhaug, acting executive vice president and head of Telenor Nordics.
“The new platform will ensure that our Nordic customers can enjoy enhanced streaming quality and reliability, while also reflecting our commitment to cost efficiency.”
