Video streaming consultants Eyevinn Technology is introducing Open Source Cloud, a software as a service based on open source with a unique transparent model where revenue is shared with the open source authors.
The service offers media companies a quick way to incorporate open source into their solutions, said Eyevinn.
Using open source code enables the user to have full insight into the capabilities of its source code, said the company, and means it can be modified as part of fixes and enhancements.
Open Source Cloud gives users more time to spend on integrating the service into their solutions instead of figuring out how it should be deployed on their infrastructure, added Eyevinn. The source code for the software is publicly available which gives the user the option at any time to take it in-house and not be locked in with a single vendor.
