Two major broadcasters in the Netherlands, RTL Nederland and SBS Broadcasting, have both chosen the Trinix NXT from Grass Valley as their new digital video routing switcher.
The Trinix NXT is designed for SDI, HD-SDI, and 3Gbps video signals, with its 3Gbps performance capabilities allowing cable lengths up to at least 140m.
At each facility, the Trinix NXT routing switcher will be controlled by a Grass Valley Jupiter CM 4000 redundant controller, and AccuSwitch software.
“We already had the SD version of the Trinix routing switcher installed in our facility,” said Hank van de Loo, technical director of RTL Nederland. “Because of its technical design, we could very easily and quickly switch to the HD-SDI and 3Gbps version just by inserting new matrix cards. A big advantage for us is that the Trinix architecture allows us to work with long cable runs: with studios, edit suites, and playout spread across our facility.”
“The Trinix NXT routing switcher gives SBS the ability to switch every type of video signal for broadcasting in HD and 3D,” added Josbert van Rooijen, Broadcast and IT Manager at SBS Broadcasting. “It has an unparalleled track record when it comes to reliability and scalability, which will allow us to quickly and easily expand the number of inputs and outputs.”
