New film studio plans to build on-site data centre

Planning permission for the full eight-stage studio is pending a section 106 legal agreement, which would see the developer reduce the studio's impact on the community

An eight-stage film studio in High Wycombe is reportedly planning to build its own data centre in order to safeguard against ‘uncertain’ market conditions.

According to Bucks Free Press, Wycombe Film Studios has been distributing leaflets to residents in the local area announcing its plans.

The facility was originally planned by Stage Fifty. However, following the company’s site in Winnersh going into administration, it has been taken over by a new entity under the parent company SCIO Capital, according to the report.

The plans include the development of a data centre due to “uncertain market conditions for new studio space”.

Planning permission for the full eight-stage studio is pending a section 106 legal agreement, which would see the developer reduce the studio’s impact on the community. That is expected to be reached by the end of 2024.
