V-Nova Studios launched to drive innovation in immersive XR

The business unit aims to leverage the technology of the company's V-Nova PresenZ compressed volumetric media format

V-Nova has announced the launch of its V-Nova Studios business unit ahead of the Venice Film Festival.

The unit aims to leverage the technology of the Lumiere award-winning V-Nova PresenZ compressed volumetric media format to drive growth in immersive XR (Extended Reality) in the entertainment sector. Providing users with cinematic grade 6 Degrees of Freedom (6DoF) immersive experiences, the solution overcomes some of the previous technical barriers to wider XR adoption, offering viewers “unprecedented freedom of movement within pre-rendered virtual environments,” said the company.

V-Nova Studios will have three main objectives: Developing a cinematic language to drive an immersive story technology with cinematic 6DoF XR; showcasing original content that demonstrates the capabilities of the PresenZ format and enabling the transformation of 6DoF production by supporting both major studios and independent creators in their use of the solution.

Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova, said, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of V-Nova Studios with two brand-new immersive experiences only possible with our V-Nova PresenZ format. V-Nova’s commitment to game-changing digital innovation ranges from enhancing traditional video to accelerating Generative AI to enabling new immersive formats. With V-Nova PresenZ, we are not only pushing the technical boundaries of XR, but also pioneering a new era in visual storytelling, unlocking this new market for consumers and creators alike.”
