The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has announced BAFTA albert certification has been awarded to the IBU World Championships Biathlon 2025.

Recognising the work done by host broadcaster ACTUA Sport, supported by the EBU and its members, the certification marks a 67 per cent reduction in carbon emissions against standard broadcasting practices, said the EBU.
The actions taken by IBU build on the work of host broadcasters from the 2023/24 and 2024/25 IBU World Cup seasons, including SRF (Switzerland), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland), ORF (Austria), Czech TV (Czechia), and NRK (Norway).
Measures included a 100 per cent renewable energy power supply, the reduction of travel-related impacts, the use of digital workflows to minimise paper waste and work to raise awareness of sustainability through training and resources.
Glen Killane, executive director, EBU Sport said, “This achievement highlights EBU Members’ leadership in advancing sustainable broadcasting and eco-conscious event production moving forward. Attaining the albert certification reflects a powerful collaboration between the IBU, EBU/ACTUA Sport and our members, and reinforces our shared commitment to driving sustainability in global sports broadcasting.”
Olle Dahlin, IBU president, added, “The IBU World Championships Biathlon 2025 demonstrates how major sporting events can align with international climate goals while delivering excellence in broadcasting and audience engagement. At the IBU we are committed to not just effecting positive climate action in areas we control but also working with all our stakeholders and partners to influence positive change across the whole of the sport. This milestone sets an inspiring example for future biathlon events, proving that sustainability and world-class production can go hand in hand.”
