Haivision has launched its new 4K ultra low latency HEVC/H.264 video encoder.
The Makito X4 can be used for streaming live contribution content over IP, including the internet with SRT.
Haivision described the product as the industry’s highest density live 4K and HD encoder supporting up to 4 SDI video inputs in a compact appliance or 84 HD or 21 4K inputs as blades in a 4RU rackmount chassis.
It is designed for broadcast contribution and remote production (REMI), and also supports 4:2:2 chroma subsampling and 10 bit colour.
“Broadcasters are thirsty for content and desperate to reduce costs, and need to have their eye on 4K content workflows,” said Peter Maag, chief marketing officer at Havision. “We developed the Makito X4 in part to allow broadcasters to centralise their high value production teams and to reduce on-site event investments whether working in HD or 4K.”
The Makito X4 will be available from April.
