BBC Three has reported its best weekly viewing figures of 2019.
The iPlayer-only channel had 9.2 million iPlayer requests last week, beating BBC Three’s previous best week of 8.06 million, when Fleabag series two launched.
This time RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has driven the surge, with series requests at 8 million, two-thirds of which come from 16-34 year olds.
The Young Offenders also contributed with 3.1 million requests for the week.
BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell said: “We have an incredibly strong portfolio of programmes on BBC Three and it’s exciting to see the audience come to iPlayer in different ways in volume.
“This performance proves the strength of iPlayer as a content destination for popular returners like The Young Offenders and an appointment to view platform with big numbers watching RuPaul’s Drag Race UK as it drops at 8pm on Thursdays.”
