Britbox, the SVoD service set up by BBC Worldwide and ITV, has signed its first third-party programming deal with Fremantle Media.
The service has the largest collection of British programming in the US and streams British TV shows such as EastEnders, Coronation Street, Strictly Come Dancing and I’m a Celebrity…, 24 hours after they are broadcast in the UK.
The new deal allows Britbox to showcase programming not from its parent companies for the first time. Programming such as Merlin, QI and Escape to the Country will launch on the platform later this month.
Soumya Sriraman, president, BritBox, said: “Expanding our offering with content created and distributed by leading British television creators and distributors of Fremantle’s scale and magnitude only catapults us closer to our end goal.”
