CUBE Studio has entered a partnership with BA Diversity Media and GenB TV.
The collaboration aims to establish a new virtual production facility in Manchester, producing a range of content including news, chat and live virtual studio shows. The facility marks a “significant milestone” in bringing innovative storytelling and technology to Black British TV channels GenB TV and GenB Movies, said the company.
Commenting on the announcement, CUBE Studio’s CEO and co-founder, James Hakesley, said, “We are thrilled to partner with BA Diversity Media and GenB TV to bring our virtual production expertise to Manchester. Since 2020, CUBE Studio has been pioneering virtual production in the UK, allowing creators to push boundaries and tell their stories in exciting new ways. This partnership represents an incredible opportunity to support Black British content creators and enhance storytelling through cutting-edge technology, all from a single, versatile location.”
Christopher Kenna, founder and CEO of BA Diversity Media Inc. added, “Manchester is the motherland, and having established the company in New York and London, it felt like 2025 was the time to bring it home and build something special that the whole community can use to produce world-class content. Black British content is already renowned, with hits like Top Boy and Supacell on Netflix. We want to collaborate with leading production companies and talent to continue telling the stories of Black British
society and bringing them to the world.”
Due to officially open in late February, the studio aims to empower broadcasters, production companies and content creators from all backgrounds. Celebrating its launch, GenB TV will host the Manchester Cultural Upfronts later this month, showcasing GenB TV’s approach to Black British storytelling to the northern media and advertising industries.
